*Alaska and Hawaii have different rates for HUD federal poverty guidelines.
These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free services from some clinics, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
Everyone was kind and respectful.
I don't think the staff is ready to operate at the rate of the incoming calls. Waiting ten or more minutes for somebody to answer is typical until you give it a second try with the same results and, thanks to persistence, finally, when somebody answers, you are transferred to an extension where a voice mail instructs you to leave a message, leave some info and in return you will be contacted in the next 24 to72 hours...then they might contact you; the most they can do, at this moment, is to email or voice mail the primary Doctor in hopes that he will reply soon, maybe at the end of his day or later the next day. Three or four days could have passed by, waiting, and, of course, a non life threatening ailment, might become a severe, painful, disabling condition. The clinic advices to go to the nearest emergency room, if this is a 911 situation; It wasn't a life threatening situation when the first call was placed. What is the point of having a Primary Care Doctor if he's not is available when you need it? When all you need is a referral to a specialist for an already known condition, I've experienced the same time frames I haven't tried to obtain a referral for a non urgent condition like an Ophtalmologist or a hearing specialist , this time, but I will and see.
