Homeless individuals are 12 times more likely to have serious dental problems than people living in stable housing. Untreated infection and pain cause additional acute and chronic health problems. The loss of teeth restricts the kinds of foods an individual can eat, fostering nutrition-related problems in a population already limited in their nutritional options. Tooth loss often also results in impaired speech and the appearance reduces the likelihood of obtaining employment.
BPHI is meeting this challenge by operating a two-chair dental suite on-site at the Center. Committed to helping the homeless rebuild their lives, BPHI's dental program is an integral part of the solution-focused programs being offered to the homeless who have sought assistance at the downtown Fort Lauderdale Center.
Since this is a sliding fee scale clinic, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the Broward Partnership For Homeless website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care.
