The mission of Sandhills Medical Foundation is to be responsive to community healthcare needs by providing quality, comprehensive, and cost effective healthcare.
Payment Options
We accept most private insurances, Medicaid, and Medicare and some Medicaid HMO's. SMF wishes to make care available to everyone in the community. We are happy to assist patients with their care. While patients must take responsibility for their bills, we do not wish payments to be an obstacle to medical care. No one will be denied access to services based on an inability to pay.
Private Insurance
We accept most private insurances. Please call our office for further details.
Medicare
Medicare patients, who come to our office, do not have to pay a deductible for services they receive in our office. Patients must pay their co-insurance, unless another insurance will cover it. We also participate in some Medicare HMOs. Our pharmacy accepts all Medicare part D plans.
Medicaid
Sandhills Medical Foundation accepts most Medicaid approved plans in South Carolina. Please call our office for further details.
Sliding Fee Scale
Patients who fall below the federal poverty guidelines and do not have health insurance may be eligible for our sliding fee scale. Patients may call our offices and speak with a receptionist about our charges and request arrangements for payment. Many patients with Medicare or private insurance may also qualify for the sliding fee scale. No one will be denied access to services based on an inability to pay.
Since this is a sliding fee scale clinic, we have provided the Federal Poverty Guidelines below. Visit the Kershaw Family Medicine website listed above to see what the level is needed for free care.

These numbers above represent 100% of the Federal Poverty Rate. In order to get reduced or free services from some clinics, they use a sliding fee scale based on your income. When they use a sliding fee scale, the 100% rate can be different than 100%. In those cases, using for example a 200% federal poverty level, you will only need double the 100% number listed above to 200%.
