Community Health

I have been to this clinic.I needed medical care. This clinic was completely free. The staff was unfriendly. I waited less than 10 minutes. I was referred to this place by my sister because it was a Christian-based Center with a sliding scale. I had been seen in the ER and needed to be seen as a follow up. I had to wait a week to get in, but that was not unexpected, being a new patient. On the day of the appointment (which was scheduled for 9am), I had to go into work that morning, but got off in time to make the appointment. The roads were still slick in spots from snow. I called at 8:55am to explain that I would be a bit late and to make sure they would still see me. She asked me how late and I said I was about 15 minutes out. She had me hold for a moment and said I should come on in, they would see me when I got there. I arrive, go to the front desk and they tell me I will have to reschedule because I'm late. I tell her that I called to verify that I would still be seen. She and another girl at the desk argue that I am too far past the appointment time. I said, "I told you I was about 15 minutes out." She says, "But you called at 8:55. It's been longer than 15 minutes." I look at my phone. It's 9:12am . . . literally 2 minutes beyond the 15 minutes. Really? THIS is a Christian-based center?? And the fact that I was considerate enough to call, was assured that I would still be seen and then treated me as if I showed up an hour late or something, is ridiculous. A doctor gets behind more than 15 minutes and patients are expected to be understanding and patient, but a patient is not afforded the same courtesy. I will advise anyone I who asks me to find a friendlier and more Christian-minded facility to see to their medical needs. Word to the wise, if you go her and are going to be late, don't bother to call them or show up.
